Job Description

Marketing & Mobilization (M&M), a key part of External Relations (ER), is a dynamic team tasked with overseeing and executing communications and marketing, building the IRC’s global profile and brand, increasing private revenue from deep donor engagement and partnerships, and influencing our target audiences ? all in the service of helping people facing the world’s worst humanitarian crises. In alignment with our Strategy100 commitments, M&M has launched ambitious multiyear campaigns that raise funding, profile and influence. M&M continuously innovates the IRC brand, which enables us to increase awareness, understanding of, and support for, our work.

The Content & Creative team, a core part of M&M, consists of award winning creative specialists and idea partners, developing powerful communications and experiences to engage audiences and ultimately to deliver on ER ambitions and objectives.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, energized and hardworking writer who cares deeply about humanitarian causes. As a key member of the Creative & Content & Creative team, the fundraising writer will be tasked with writing and editing inspired and effective email appeals and other digital marketing content that raises funds for the IRC. This person will be creative, deadline-driven and able to act in a fast-paced environment.

Major Responsibilities:

Write and edit cohesive, organized, and compelling fundraising email appeals and brand awareness cultivations, digital ads, video scripts, website donation pages and other digital marketing content. Develop and collaborate on outofthebox digital campaigns that raise funds and awareness for the organization.

Help to shape the creative strategy for emails alongside the marketing team.

Play a role in defining and developing the messaging for fundraising events.

Write engaging copy that inspires people to become donors, sustainers and midlevel supporters.

Be an IRC brand ambassador, ensuring fundraising copy is onbrand, effective and highlights the dignity and resilience of the people we serve.

Interview staff, donors, volunteers and clients about the impact of the IRC and collaborate with key stakeholders.

Be deadline driven and able to write copy very quickly, especially when an emergency happens in one of the countries where we work. This person should also take feedback well and adjust content accordingly.

Maintain proficient knowledge of the IRC’s history and programs.

Qualifications

Work Experience:

5+ years experience writing digital marketing copy

3 to 5 years experience writing email appeals for nonprofits and/or political campaigns

Has a proven track record developing engaging copy and campaigns for digital marketing channels

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

Is an outstanding writer with a demonstrated ability to produce content that sways hearts and minds and encourages people to support our work

Creates materials that are focused on cultivation and retention, demonstrating the impact of a donor’s generosity

Is an excellent proofreader and editor
